Homework Assignments: 1. Take the “Online Learning Tour” on the Using Your Speech Power! web site. To get to the “Online Learning Tour” left-click your mouse on the “Intro to Online Learning” link on the Using Your Speech Power! home page or in the list of links at the bottom of this page. 2. Print a copy of the SPE 101 NR Course Syllabus. The Course Syllabus link is among the links at the bottom of this page and on the Using Your Speech Power! home page. Read and highlight your printed syllabus. 3. Go to the Links to Additional Resources towards the bottom of this page and visit the ION and ALBION links. 4. Read and highlight the textbook Chapter 1 “Making Learning Easier by Improving Your Note-taking Skills” on pages 1-6. 5. Turn the textbook pages 3-6 into “T” notes. Graded Homework

Links to Additional Resources: Get off to a good start and look at the How to be a successful Internet student (sponsored by the Illinois Online Network [ION]). Look at the “Strengths and Weaknesses of Online Learning”, “Profile of the Successful Online Student” and “Tips for Success” to help you have a more successful online experience. Illinois was a pioneering state for online education. ION can offer you excellent advice. Learn The Core Rules of Netiquette (ALBION) so you don’t come off like an online “newbie”. Email your instructor the answers to the Post Course Syllabus Review Questions by Wednesday, January 28. See if you’re correctly using “T” Note-taking by checking out the Sample "T" notes of pages 3-6. Study Break: Just for fun, when you’re tired of studying check out William Shakespeare's affect on the English language in this week’s Study Break. |
