Announcements - February 4, 2003:

Welcome to week #3!

First of all, I’ve enjoyed reading your postings in the Discussion Forum. Considering this is most people’s first online experience, I think we’re all doing very well.

This week we’ll learn to expand our speeches by writing main points. Be sure you understand the 7 main point organizational patterns. You’ll practice writing main points for a variety of topics and organizational patterns by doing the Main Point Exercise on pages 31 & 32. You can check your Main Point Exercise answers by clicking the link under Putting Theory Into Practice. Finally, you’ll choose an organizational pattern and write 3 main points for your Persuasive Speech.

There are two Links to Additional Resources. Sample main points shows you other examples of the 7 main point organizational patterns in action.

The second Link to Additional Resources, Emoticons, is primarily for fun. However, emoticons have a practical application for online communicators. Emoticons allow you to attach emotions to your printed words. The link takes you to an entire web page of emoticons. There are more emoticons here than I ever dreamed of. I hope you’ll enjoy them.

Until next time please accept this emoticon gift @???, or perhaps a full dozen of them.

Take care,
Steven
